AE Expo

This event showcases the various research activities going on throughout the different labs within the School of Aerospace Engineering. There are informational booths sponsored by various AE student organizations and other student resources (e.g. C2D2, Study Abroad, UROP).

One of the main highlights of this event are the lab tours; in the past, students have commented that this is their favorite part of the AE Expo. The AE Expo is sponsored by the Georgia Center of Innovation for Aerospace, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) - Atlanta Chapter, and the Daniel Guggenheim School of AE.

AeroHacks (Aerospace-Themed Hackathon)

SAESAC hosted an aerospace-themed hackathon called AeroHacks for about 100 GT students in November 2016. During the 25 hours, students made hacks with drones, micro-controllers, and a satellite imagery API.

More information here. Pictures from the event can be found here!

Movie and a Lecture

Once or twice each semester, SAESAC organizes an event that we call “Movie and a Lecture”. We select an aerospace themed movie and ask a faculty member to give a 30-minute lecture before the movie on a related topic.

In the past we have had parings such as:
-Live Free or Die Hard and the Joint Strike Fighter (design optimization)
-Iron Man and Human Levitation (principles of flight mechanics)
-Challenger and AE Safety and Reliability Challenges

Movie and a Lecture is a great way to spend a Friday evening at Georgia Tech with fellow AEs! Free refreshments are always provided!

Peer Advising

Our peer advising Piazza page opens during phase 1 and phase 2 registration every semester. Get all your registration related questions answered!

Capstone Design Expo

This year the Capstone Design Expo will be on April 24th in the McCamish Pavilion from 4:30-8:30pm!

This year's symposium will be in cooperation with ME, EE, ID, and BME.

The Symposium is free to view for all students and faculty of Georgia Tech and offers students who are in senior design a chance to showcase their work as well as meet with potential employers.

For undergraduate students, the symposium is a great way to see what senior year will be like. It also gives undergrads the ability to meet with professors, join aerospace clubs, and learn about research opportunities within the School of Aerospace.

State of the AE School Address

The State of the AE School Address is given by Dr. Mark Costello, W.R.T. Oaks Professor and Chair of the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Tech, and serves to provide students and faculty with a better understanding of the AE school, its place among other AE schools in the nation, as well as its past and ongoing efforts to improve the school.

Typically, Dr. Costello gives the State of the AE School Address once during the fall and once during the spring. The fall talk focuses more on the history and overview of the AE school, providing a better understanding of it and its uniqueness, and is mainly targeted towards new incoming students. The spring talk focuses more on what occurred during the previous calendar year concerning the AE school, its place among other top AE schools in the nation such as MIT and CalTech, as well as ongoing efforts to improve the AE school. Both of Dr. Costello's talks are usually very interesting and enlightening.
